Staunton River Smallmouth
Staunton smallmouth bass are known for their larger average size compared to those in other Virginia fisheries. This may be a result of the rugged nature of the Staunton River, which has very limited public access and thus keeps fishing pressure to a minimum. Stripers
Experience the high intensity of the striped bass spawn run on the Staunton River and Dan River. Every spring, the striped bass of Kerr Lake charge upriver to spawn the next generation. Casting for these freshwater freight trains in moving water is unforgettable and some of the most intense freshwater Virginia fishing. Staunton River Walleye
The Staunton River has a plentiful walleye and saugeye population, thanks to the efforts of Virginia's DWR extensive stocking program. Fish ranging from 18" to 25" are common and delicious! White Bass
The Dan and Staunton Rivers in Halifax County, Virginia, are both meccas for White Bass. Known for their aggression and fight as they make their spawn run upriver from Kerr Lake, these fish are a blast to chase, making for one of the most exciting and relaxing Virginia fishing experiences.
